Day 1 (D)
Visit of the Croatian capital Zagreb. Get acquainted with the cosmopolitan Zagreb, its history hidden in the upper and lower town. The picturesque open market Dolac abounds in treasures of the Croatian agricultural offer, all grown by hard-working Croatian farmers. Welcome dinner in a traditional brewery. Overnight Zagreb.
Day 2 (B, D)
On your way to Opatija, magical intertwining meadows, hills and mountains will greet you before reaching the coast. Hinterland of the Kvarner bay is a perfect spot for honey production. We will visit the high quality honey filling station. The owners have a long tradition of honey making, and their offer includes not only various sorts of honey, but also liquors and honey vinegar. The bee hives are dislocated, but the owners will present an exemplary bee hive on the spot. Drive through Rijeka to Opatija, stunning coastal town where the tourism in Croatia began. The history if Croatian tourism and Opatija will be presented in the Croatian museum of tourism. The architecture of the old Austro-Hungarian villas still picture the old charm in a modern everyday. Let us introduce you to Opatija’s unique parks and famous Lungomare promenade. Overnight Opatija.
Day 3 (B, L, D)
Throught the history, the coastal part of the largest Croatian peninsula, Istria, was marked by the most diverse influences of the conquerors. Witness to the Roman highlights in Pula and Venetian highlights in Rovinj and hear their storiell told by an experienced local guide. In the mean time, we will take you to a famous filming location Lim Fjord. The fact of being the place where the Adriatic sea cuts deep into the Istrian peninsula, makes the Lim Fjord one of the most favourable places for oyster and mussels breeding on the Northern Adriatic. Boat ride though Lim fjord will take you closer to the plants and is followed by a tasting and lunch in a nearby restaurant.
In Rovinj, we will take you to the muostra – Batana ecomuseum. Batana dates back to history and is traditional wooden vessel typical for Rovinj. The local people appreciate it since it was enabling them to get the food (fish) for their families. Trip continues to the olive groves and olive oil press in the vicinity of Porec. Istria is world renowed for its extra virgin olive oils many of which are awarded on the most prestige world exhibitions. You will be introduced with various ways of olive oil production and will have the opportunity to discuss and exchange useful experiences. Overnight Opatija.
Day 4 (B, T, D)
The green heart of Istria is home to Boskarin, an autochthonous breed of the ox. We will visit the farm and get acquainted with this unique Istrian animal species. Boskarin was used for hard work in the fields, and nowadays its meat has huge valor and is a part of Istrian cuisine. Do not miss to try the Boskarin steak or boskarin meat in a sauce served with the homemade istrian pasta. We will introduce you to the processing and preservation of the truffles with one of the oldest opportunity to see its famous Nehaj fort dominating the city. Nehaj fort had the defending purpose throughout the history of this city cut by the 45th parallel. We head on to National Park Plitvice Lakes. The 16 turqoise cascading lakes are a unique natural phenomenon of this carstic region. The upper and lower lakes create waterfalls and while walking the wooden paths over the lakes, you can now and then feel the spray of the waterfalls on your skin. The lush green vegetation and the lakes create a wondrous blend. Overnight Plitvice.
Day 6 (B, T, D)
On our way to south, we will stop at Otocac to visit the Lika Region cheese production and the Croatian Centre for Indigenous Species of Fish and Crawfish in Karstic Waters. Lika is the region of untouched nature and clean rivers. This makes it a favourable place for the unique fish and crawfish of the karstic waters. A presentation and visit to the hatchery basins will introduce you to the story of autochthonous Gacka brown trout and many more species. We will proceed towards the dairy farm in otocac where you will taste some of their best cheese sorts and will have a tour of the production process. When in Lika, you should not miss the interactive museum at Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre. Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest scientists ever and his birthplace is a home to models of his greatest inventions that are presented in an interactive complex of the memorial centre. Overnight Zadar.
Day 7 (B, L, D)
Today we are taking you to Island Pag. This large island is very extraordinary. The plain rocks dominate one side of the island and green vegetation overcame the rocks on the other. The green parts of the island abound in sheep flocks. We are taking you to Kolan, to the world famous Gligora dairy and their pastures. Throught the cheese production demonstration, you will get acquainted with making of the awarded cheese sorts and hear why the Pag cheese has such special flavours. Overnight Zadar.
Day 8 (B, D)
Visit to the beautiful Roman city Zadar. The remains of the old square Forum and the beautiful Church of St. Donatus, all hidden behind the strong city walls witness the city’s past, while the Sea Organ and the modern Sun Salutation witness its present and future. Evening at leisure. Overnight Zadar.
Day 9 (B, L)
Today is a true UNESCO day. We will visit one of the oldest cities in Croatia, Trogir. This UNESCO protected town is rich in culture and heritage. Churches, palaces, fortresses, and towers wait to be discovered and some of them are ornamented with the true works of art. After the sightseeing lunch is organized in a typical restaurant. As we travel to Split, we stop at the ruins of ancient Salona. Last stop of the day is UNESCO protected city of Split, its unique city centre outside and inside the walls of Diocletian’s Palace, the Cathedral and Bell Tower of St Domnius. In Split you will witness how the past and present coexist since people still live in apartments within the ancient palace. Evening at leisure. Overnight Split.
Day 10 (B, D)
Visit to a salt plant where the salt is grown by combining the sun, wind, air pressure and moisture. You will have the opportunity to see three salt types – granular, liquid and salt flower. On our way back to Split we will visit the Ethno village near Split, Stella Croatica. In the authentic ambient, through the unique gastro-ethno experience, you will taste some of the dalmatian delicacies and even see how they baked the bread in the old times. Overnight Split.
