Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL

On arrival in Dalaman airport you will be met by your driver and tour guide. We will transfer (1,5hr) and check in at the hotel in Kayaköy. Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy an optional walk from Kayaköy to Ölüdeniz (2,5 hrs, 8 km). Once a thriving Greek village, Kayaköy has over one thousand houses, two churches, fourteen chapels, and two schools. It was completely deserted in 1923 when the Greek inhabitants living there (along with a vast number of Greeks living throughout Turkey) were deported to Greece through a massive government mandated population exchange between the two countries, following the Turkish war of Independence. Welcome drink, briefing and dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Walk Ovacık – Faralya

(14,5km / 5-6hr / +490m / -470m)

We transfer to the beginning of the Lycian Way, and start walking with spectacular views as we climb the shoulder of Baba Dağı (Father mountain). You then descend to the small village of Faralya on the green slopes above the Butterfly valley. Dinner and overnight in pension in Faralya.

Day 3: Walk Faralya –  Alınca

(16km / 6-7hr /+750m / -650m)

We walk along a forested path passing high above the secluded cove of Kabak. We will climb up a beautiful old mule trail to Alınca, with spectacular views over Yedi Burun (Seven Capes). Dinner and overnight in village house in Alınca.

Day 4: Walk Alınca –  Gey

(11km/ 3,5hr / +200m / -450m)

We walk along the spectacular coastline towards a pasture with an old Ottoman cistern. There we have the choice to descend along a stone cobbled trail to the secluded beach of Kalabantia; explore the ruins of the ancient harbour and swim in the crystal clear waters (add another 5km / 2,5km / +400m / – 400m to the walk). After returning to the main trail we continue to Gey village partly along a quiet tarmac road. Dinner and overnight in village house in Gey.

Day 5: Walk Gey –  Boğaziçi

(13km, 5-5,5hr; +400m, -350m)

We start from Gey and walk to ancient Sidyma where we explore the ruins of this once huge city scattered around an inland valley and two hills. The village houses are constructed using ancient building blocks; inscriptions, tombs and city walls are visible. We will have lunch amongst the ruins and afterwards walk down to Boğaziçi village where we meet our vehicle and drive back to Gey for our overnight. Dinner and overnight in village house in Gey.

Day 6: Walk Gey – Gavurağili

(17km, 6-7hr, +200m, -750m)
We trek along a tiny goat path around the spectacular, secluded bay of Gemili to the village of Bel. After a short section of dirt road we arrive at Belceğiz and start our descent along the

last of the Seven Capes following a steep, rocky Roman road down to Gavurağili. We meet our transfer vehicle here and drive to Patara. Patara is famous for its very long beach where the giant sea turtles, caretta caretta are known to come for laying eggs. It was also the birthplace of st Nicholas, who became known as bishop of nearby (Myra) Demre. Dinner and overnight in pension in Patara.

Day 7: Delikkemer – Patara

(11 km / 3hr / +200m / -350m)

After a short transfer we visit the remains of a Roman aqueduct spanning a ravine at Delikkemer. It was part of a system that supplied water from high up in the mountains to ancient Patara on the coast. We walk back from the aquaduct to the ancient site of Patara partly following the course of the ancient waterpipes. We explore the ruins of this important coastal city, where you can admire a theatre, bath complexes, temples and other remains of this once leading city of the Lycian League. The trek ends with a transfer to Dalaman airport.
