Hasan Mountain Treck. Mount Hasan is an inactive stratovolcano. With an altitude of 3268 m, it ranks as the second highest mountain of central Anatolia. This two days tour starts with a long walk in the Ihlara valley and a transfer to base camp for the climb. Second day we reach the summit, where in good weather, we have a great view of the whole area and the Salt Lake.

ITINERARY

2 days – 1 night climb

EQUIPMENT

Trekkers need good walking boots, daysack (approximately 40Lt), warm clothing, sunglasses, sunhat, sun cream, raingear (preferably breathable such as Gore-Tex), sleeping bag. Walking sticks are recommended. We may especially need to use crampons and ice axes depending on snow conditions on early spring and late autumn.

ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS

One night camping; trekkers are expected to help pitch/strike their own tents. All tents are good quality dome tents with two doors.

Lunches will be picnics. Trekkers are expected to carry some part of the food for lunch. Evening meals in camp will be hot soup or salads, a main course with pasta or rice and fruit.

GRADE

Grade C: Demands a bit of experience and fitness to tackle steep slopes and narrow, stony paths for up to 8 hours per day.

Prices include all meals, guide and transfers. But alcoholic and soft drinks which are available at camps or restaurants and entrance fees to historical sites and museums are excluded.

Itinerary

Day 1:

We meet at the Middle Earth Travel office in Goreme at 09:00 Then we drive to Ihlara village, 6 hours trek in the Ihlara Valley. We walk about 3.5 hours and en route visit some rock-cut churches. After a late lunch at around 13.30, we continue walking by the river down to Selime town. After a quick visit at the Selime Monastery we drive to Helvadere and camp near the abondoned ski hotel.
(Around 2000 mt).

Day 2:

We wake up early for breakfast and start ascent over rough ground around sunrise. We hope to reach the summit before noon. (3268 mt) In good weather views of the Aladaglar and Bolkar mountains, Tuz Gölü -Salt lake- (2nd biggest in Turkey) are breath-taking. We will explore the ruins of the highest church in Turkey. Return to camp and drive for a late lunch at Helvadere trout restaurant. On the way back to Göreme, we stop for a quick swim in Nar lake.
